Co-Product Trader (Pet Food)

Our client is seeking an experienced Co-product / Pet-Food Ingredient Trader to grow their presence with companion-animal manufacturers and expand ingredient sales into the pet-food supply chain. This role requires strong industry relationships and the ability to identify profitable opportunities quickly.

Responsibilities

• Source, buy, and sell feed ingredients used in pet-food formulations
• Maintain owned and develop new relationships with pet-food manufacturers, ingredient buyers, and key decision-makers
• Navigate approval and compliance processes for ingredient acceptance
• Identify new opportunities within pet-food ingredient markets
• Negotiate pricing, freight, and contract terms to support profitable execution
• Track industry trends and supply-chain shifts to guide trading strategy
• Collaborate with logistics and risk teams to ensure seamless trade execution
• Bring and build a growing book of business through proactive customer development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Animal Science, or related field
• 5+ years of experience trading feed ingredients or co-products into pet-food markets
• Strong negotiation ability and understanding of market fundamentals
• Ability to maintain and continue to build a book of business with limited oversight
• Excellent communication and commercial relationship-building skills
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, freight coordination, and market analytics
