Feed Ingredient Trader / Merchandiser

Our client is seeking an experienced Feed Ingredient Trader to join their team remotely. This individual will be responsible for originating, buying, and selling feed and pet food ingredients across the U.S. feed supply chain. The ideal candidate brings an established book of business, deep customer and supplier relationships, and a proven track record of driving profitable growth in ingredients such as DDGs, corn gluten feed, cottonseed, cotton hulls, and other by/co-products. This is a high-impact role for a self-starter who can identify opportunities, execute trades, and expand into new markets with minimal oversight.

What You’ll Do

• Source, buy, and sell feed ingredients including DDGs, corn gluten feed, cottonseed, cotton hulls, and other by/co-products
• Develop and execute profitable trading strategy that balances margin and risk
• Leverage existing customer and supplier relationships to grow market share and volume
• Identify new origination and sales opportunities, particularly in livestock and pet food markets
• Negotiate freight, pricing, and contract terms
• Monitor market fundamentals, crop conditions, and feed demand trends to guide trading decisions
• Work closely with logistics and risk management teams to ensure seamless execution and compliance
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with feed mills, pet food manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, etc.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Animal Science, Economics, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience trading feed ingredients, feed byproducts, or related commodities
• Existing customer and supplier relationships in feed or pet food industries strongly preferred
• Proven ability to manage flat price and basis risk within ingredient markets
• Strong commercial instincts and ability to identify niche opportunities in regional markets
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a relationship-driven mindset
• Highly self-motivated and capable of operating independently within a decentralized trading model
• Proficiency with hedging tools, market analytics platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
