Our client is a privately held, growing grain and agribusiness operating multiple locations in the Eastern Corn Belt and handling 7+ million bushels annually. The business has strong local origination, internal logistics, and expanding value added capabilities.
Location: Eastern Corn Belt
This is an onsite role that will be based at their main office with regular presence expected at the other locations (all within a couple hours).
They are seeking a Grain Division Manager to lead the grain business across the organization. This role owns merchandising, risk management, and execution, with a focus on centralizing decision making, aligning activity across locations, and bringing consistent discipline to margin, movement, and commercial policy. This position is designed for a proven grain leader who operates with accountability and clarity.
Responsibilities
- Own overall grain merchandising strategy across all locations
- Lead basis strategy, bid guidance, cash execution, and hedge and risk management
- Provide clear direction on buying, pricing, movement, and margin protection
- Oversee exposure, position management, and risk guidelines
- Coordinate commercial planning to ensure consistency across the platform
- Establish and maintain consistent grain programs and policies
- Work closely with origination, operations, and logistics to align execution
- Communicate regularly with locations on basis, bids, space, and movement
- Improve freight economics and identify arbitrage opportunities
- Evaluate growth opportunities including new lanes and expanded markets
Qualifications
- Experience leading merchandising for a multi location grain business
- Strong command of basis, spreads, cash execution, and risk management
- Working knowledge of logistics and grain movement coordination
- Comfort operating as the primary decision maker
- Proven ability to bring structure and consistency to execution
- Clear, steady communicator with high ownership and low ego leadership style
